2013 debut mixtape from Swedish rapper Yung Lean. Sad Boys is not just his clique but a lifestyle, as Lean chronicles the life of a 16-year-old drinking Arizona Iced Tea, lacing his blunts with cocaine, and yearning for girls to slide through as he promises lemonade, drugs, or whatever they might want. An interesting manifestation of hip-hop that marries nuanced trap beats with Lean’s sleepy, atonal delivery sometimes aided by auto tune. Strange, ironic (?), and depressing, it somehow pulls you in to keep listening. Check out “Gatorade,” “Lemonade,” “Hurt,” and “Solarflare.”
