“Can you handle me? Can you keep it up?” SSJJ and Devin Dare (Duane Harriott + Sean Marquand) serve up two supple slices of candy-coated boogie bliss for Funkineven aka Steve Julien‘s Apron Records. SSJJ‘s side twists up a sweet loop of S***** ***** (snitches get stitches, listen closely and figure it out yourself) for the filter house crew and drapes it nicely over a shuffling garage beat, like a steppier version of Kyle Hall‘s “Measure 2 Measure.” And there’s more filter business on the flip; Devin Dare bit-crush the living shit out of a vintage boogie loop and cram it into a huge beat, but you’ll have to wait for the climax to spot the sample. Recommended.
