Sophomore effort from Saint Etienne. So Tough was the 1993 follow-up to Foxbase Alpha that found the British group expanding their sonic boundaries with more cut-and-paste samples, breaks, and movie dialogue resulting in an extremely diverse and eclectic album. Saint Etienne certainly cover a lot of ground here, from 60’s pop rock, baggy breakbeat, alt dance, and even some hints of trip-hop, all strung together with a constant 90’s vibe that emanates off every track (even the ones intended to be retro). 15 tracks in all, comes with repro inner sleeve and code for digital download.
