Hercules! Hercules! What we have here are two jacking Marshall Jefferson rarities on a well deserved repress. The two tracks definitely hail from the darker side of Marshall Jefferson’s repertoire and share a sinister vocal style that is unique to his work as Hercules. “Lost In The Groove” rides a tom heavy beat as Hercules issues commands to the dancers. The booming kick, sweeping synth noise and simple bass line of “7 Ways” provide the perfect setting for the ominous vocals. In a very deliberate way Hercules gives instructions to visually undress the other dancers on the floor, step by step. It’s a combination that is at once hypnotic and haunting. Recommended.
