This is one of those records that when you drop, other DJ’s bum rush the booth to trainspot. Somewhere between jazz, house, and minimal techno comes “People Get Ready,” a tribute to Curtis Mayfield and Eva Cassidy from DeWalta (according to the label). The track has a wild energy that’s got “secret weapon” status written all over it – deep, pounding beats, jazzy loops, soulful vocal samples – plus it’s a white label, so go figure. Seriously heavy vibes going on here, something like Soho Hot Music meets Ricardo Villalobos. Wait till the right time to drop it and watch the walls come down. Recommended.
