Afro Breaks: Afro Breaks Volume 2 (Fela) 7″
The mysterious R. Fellow returns with another batch of heavily edited afro beat. Although they’re not quite edits, more of a distillation if you will. Fela records are woven together with an ear for the breaks and not much else. Horns and vocals are stripped away, save for a few deftly planted shouts and grunts, and the focus is shifted towards the rhythm section. It’s a formula that can prove to be highly effective under the right circumstances.
